We are looking forward to an exciting and fun year. Band is a full-year class because we have so much great music to learn and play. Students in the Beginning Band and Orchestra are a very important part of our band program as they prepare to be a part of these great programs moving forward. Our goal is for each student to be a successful musician and for every ensemble to sound great as a group. Band, taught by Ms. Giblon, gives you the opportunity to learn multiple brass, woodwind or percussion instruments. Orchestra at DMS is taught by Mrs. Lacayo and is where you'll learn instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and bass.

Parents, this year your child can begin playing a musical instrument in the Dixon Middle Band and Orchestra programs. When he or she brings home an instrument for the first time, it is more than just an exciting day. It is perhaps one of the greatest opportunities in your child's life thus far. There are not many subjects taught in school where your children can have fun, learn a beautiful artform, and develop life skills needed to be successful beyond their school career.
